Altra Footwear was founded by elite ultra runners and experienced running store managers who recognized the need for footwear that supports injury prevention and enhances performance for all types of runners. With a passion for running that spans from 100 meters to 100 miles, Altra set out to create shoes that balance the best of both worlds: the cushioning and support of traditional running shoes with the natural, impact-reducing benefits of running barefoot. The design incorporates a unique foot-shaped toe box that allows the toes to splay naturally, improving form and comfort. Altra’s shoes promote a more natural stride, reduce injury risk, and help runners feel more connected to the ground beneath them.
